A caregiver is someone whom a qualifying registered patient gives authority to manage the patient’s health, well-being, and use of medical marijuana.
A caregiver cannot grow medical marijuana for patients. Under the terms specified on the patient’s application for a production license, a caregiver can, however, help patients grow.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age or above.
- Must be registered with the Department of Health.
- Must undergo background check.
- Must have no past background of any drug felony offense.
Becoming a Caregiver
The caregiver application includes:
- The patient’s signature
- The certifying physician’s signature.
- The caregiver’s signature.
- A consent to release medical information from the patient.
- Must have complete federal background check.
- Copy of the caregiver’s applicant’s New Mexico State issued photo ID or driver’s license.
