Caregivers

A caregiver is someone whom a qualifying registered patient gives authority to manage the patient’s health, well-being, and use of medical marijuana.

A caregiver cannot grow medical marijuana for patients. Under the terms specified on the patient’s application for a production license, a caregiver can, however, help patients grow.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age or above.
  • Must be registered with the Department of Health.
  • Must undergo background check.
  • Must have no past background of any drug felony offense.

Becoming a Caregiver

The caregiver application includes:

  • The patient’s signature
  • The certifying physician’s signature.
  • The caregiver’s signature.
  • A consent to release medical information from the patient.
  • Must have complete federal background check.
  • Copy of the caregiver’s applicant’s New Mexico State issued photo ID or driver’s license.
